Jeffrey Evan Gold is a 1981 graduate of the Rutgers School of Law. Mr. Gold has been three time honored by the New Jersey State Bar Association as “Attorney of the Year” for his work as a Criminal Defense Attorney in the Municipal and Superior Courts of New Jersey. His law firm, Gold & Associates, P.C., has offices in Cherry Hill and Mt. Holly, NJ and he covers Burlington County, Camden County and Gloucester County, as well.
Mr. Gold was awarded the New Jersey Institite of Legal Education’s “2013 Distinquished Service Award” and was named Municipal Court “Attorney of the Year” by the N.J. State Bar Assn. in 2012, 2008 and 2004. He was also awarded the New Jersey State Bar’s “Amcius Curiae Award” in 2011 and 2008. Mr. Gold has twice been Chair of the New Jersey State Bar Municipal Court Practice Section, three times Chair of the Burlington County Bench and Bar Criminal Law Committee and four times as Chair of the Municipal Court Committee. He has been moderator and speaker at many Bar seminars on the subjects of Criminal Law, Municipal Court, “Megan’s Law”, and Drunk Driving. Mr. Gold is also a former Asst. Burlington County Prosecutor and was a Police Academy instructor on the subject of Search and Seizure. He has been appointed to the Supreme Court Trial Certification Committee, the Supreme Court Municipal Court Practice Committee, and the Supreme Court Special Committee on Discovery
Mr. Gold is also a frequent TV Legal Analyst appearing on nationally on NBC, ABC, Fox, CNN, HLN, and Comcast Networks on such cases as O.J. Simpson, Michael Jackson, Martha Stewart, Scott Peterson, Jon-Benet Ramsey, and has personally covered the trials of Jerry Sandusky, Drew Peterson, Jodi Arias, George Zimmerman and others . He has also been a featured criminal law expert in the Courier Post newspaper’s “Ask the Expert” panel.
Mr. Gold is admitted to practice in all New Jersey Courts as well as the 3rd Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States. He was lead defense counsel in State v. Foley, 370 N.J. Super. 341 (Law Div. 2004) the first case in the U.S. to restrict the use of the new “Alcotest 7110″ breath testing device used in drunk driving (i.e. DWI, DUI) cases. He then represented the amicus New Jersey State Bar Association in the landmark case State v Chun, 194 N.J. 54 (2008) (and Chun II 2013) where the N.J. Supreme Court placed many conditions on the use of the Alcotest as evidence in DWI cases, State v Cahill, __ NJ__ (2013) dismissing a DWI for lack of a speedy trial, State v Ciancaglini, ____ NJ____ (2012) holding that a “refusal” to take a breath test charge is not a prior DWI for sentencing, and State v ODriscoll. ___NJ___ (2013) on refusals as well. Mr. Gold also represented the CDS defendant in the successful appeal State v. Sparks, 261 NJ Super. 458 (App. Div. 1993) holding the State to its obligation to prove drug defendant’s guilt by strict adherence to the statutory law.
